Matt Bahr is a former professional American football placekicker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 17 seasons. He was born on July 6, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Bahr began his NFL career in 1979 when he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round. He went on to play for several teams during his career, including the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, and New England Patriots.
Bahr is best known for his time with the New York Giants, with whom he won two Super Bowl championships in 1986 and 1990. He is particularly remembered for his game-winning field goal in the 1990 NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers, which propelled the Giants to Super Bowl XXV.
Throughout his career, Bahr was known for his accuracy and consistency as a kicker. He retired in 1995 with a career field goal percentage of 72.9%.
After retiring from professional football, Bahr worked as a kicking coach and consultant, helping young kickers improve their skills. He is also the brother of former NFL quarterback Chris Bahr.
